Amitec’s contribution to the AVEVA Partner Games 2024: A step towards sustainable energy solutions
At Amitec, we always aim to develop transformative solutions to the challenges of modern industries. This year, we are pleased to announce our participation in the AVEVA Partner Games 2024 – an initiative that promotes innovation, collaboration and technical excellence. With our project Dynamic Energy Optimization and CO2 Reduction through Explainable AI (XAI), our team exAItd – Explainable AI in Time-Series Data competed in the Power District category and presented an innovative approach to energy and environmental management.
The AVEVA Partner Games: A platform for innovation
The AVEVA Partner Games promote collaboration between system integration professionals from the AVEVA partner network. Participants face real industrial challenges using AVEVA’s state-of-the-art tools and technologies. The competition is divided into different “districts”, each representing specific industry challenges. Our team chose the Power District, which focuses on achieving strict net-zero targets, minimizing energy disruptions and modernizing an aging workforce.
The Partner Games are more than just a competition – they provide a stage to demonstrate the potential of digital transformation. The winners will present their solutions to a global audience on the big stage at AVEVA World 2024 in Paris.
Our project: Dynamic energy optimization and CO2 reduction through Explainable AI
Amitec’s contribution addresses two of the most pressing challenges in the energy sector: reducing energy costs and minimizing CO2 emissions. The solution uses Explainable AI (XAI) to optimize energy consumption, predict energy prices and assess environmental impact in real time.
The main functions of our project include
- Data extraction and integration
We use data from the ENTSO-E Transparency Portal to gain insights into energy production by resource, day-ahead price estimates and cross-border energy flows. Tibber’s dynamic energy prices complement our analyses and ensure maximum precision. In addition, data integration was enabled by the ENTSO-E Transparency Connector, which is part of the Amitec Connector Suite. This connector ensures that all relevant energy and market data is seamlessly integrated into the AVEVA PI system. - CO2 emissions calculation
The system calculates CO2 emissions based on the energy mix and enables users to assess the environmental impact of their energy consumption and make sustainable decisions. - User interaction via Large Language Models (LLM)
Our platform integrates a Large Language Model (LLM) that allows users to ask simple questions such as:
“When should I run my washing machine to save money?”
“How can I optimize my energy consumption today?”
“When are CO2 emissions at their lowest?”
The LLM provides two types of recommendations:
- Lowest cost: optimal times to use energy.
- Lowest CO2 emissions: Times when emissions are at their lowest.

- Amitec PI Vision Suite:
The suite enhances PI Vision with over 25 additional symbols and tools that significantly improve visualization, analysis and interaction with data. Features such as Heatmaps, Sankey diagrams and Event Frame Editor enable detailed analysis and better decision making. The suite not only improves usability, but also encourages collaboration through intuitive and visually appealing dashboards. - AVEVA CONNECT (formerly AVEVA Data Hub):
Our solution integrates seamlessly with AVEVA CONNECT, a cloud-based platform that enables the secure sharing and analysis of real-time data between different locations and systems. AVEVA CONNECT provides a single point of contact for data management and advanced analytics, significantly increasing the efficiency and transparency of data processing. - AVEVA PI System, PI Vision and PI Asset Framework (AF):
These systems ensure seamless data integration and a user-friendly interface that transforms real-time data into actionable insights.

Imagine a user asking: “When should I run my washing machine to save money?” The system analyzes real-time data, identifies the optimal time based on dynamic prices and environmental factors and provides clear, actionable recommendations. Whether to reduce costs or minimize emissions, the solution enables users to make informed decisions.
